Touchdown Mike Trout

Mike Trout makes no mystery of his love for the Philadelphia Eagles.  Earlier this week he went hunting with quarterback Carson Wentz.  Then he sent some of his signature shoes to the entire team.

As payback for all the attention Zach Ertz gave Trout the game ball after a touchdown pass from Carson Wentz.  Trout is living out all kinds of fantasies for little boys across the country.

2016 MVP Mike Trout

For the second time in his career Mike Trout has been named the American League MVP by the Baseball Writer’s Association. This was the fifth consecutive year that Trout was either first or second in the voting. Despite Trout’s place on the stats leader-board there was ambiguity about whether or not he would be named MVP because of the Angels poor season. Despite this liability Trout earned the award based on his individual play.

Here’s how the vote tally was finalized.

Trout has led the league in WAR for five straight years. The last player to do that was Babe Ruth. He is the only the fifth position player to win two MVP award by the time he was 25 (Bench, Mantle, Foxx, and Musial are the others).

Trout’s Magic Slides

Mike Trout made a stronger case for his second MVP with two magic slides against the Blue Jays. The first came as he stole third base and he adeptly reached behind Josh Donaldson’s foot that was blocking the bag. This is not the first time Mike has made a slide like this.

The next was at home plate. Without replay no one would believe he was safe.

Mike Trout’s 25th Birthday Bash

Mike Trout’s 25th birthday turned out to be quite a party. First off, following the Dominican tradition, his teammates gave him a special baby powder and egg shower.

Trout is known for hitting a home run on his birthday. This year his bat was no where to be found as he earned the rare distinction of a “golden sombrero”, four strikeouts. But he showed up on the field with a grand-slam stealing catch in center field. You have to see this catch!

The Mike Trout Weather Report

The best new addition at Angel Stadium this year is the “Mike Trout Weather Report”. The Angels play the segment just before the start of every home game.  Trout’s love of weather reports only made it right for the Angels to fulfill this dream for their MVP. The segment is particularly funny since the weather in Southern California is almost always “sunny with clear skies”.

Mike Trout was on the Dan Patrick show today. Trout revealed that Duke is his favorite room in the NCAA tournament but if he had gone to college he would have ended up at East Carolina University. He said he would have gone there because he liked the coach, the campus layout and the baseball field.

Patrick asked Trout about his view of Bryce Harper’s comments that “baseball is tired.” Mike also asked for his favorite Albert Pujols story and what it would take for the Angels to make this World Series.
