Mike Trout may have had the most epic off-season ever. In December he married his longtime girlfriend Jess. They enjoyed a beautiful winter ceremony followed by a honeymoon in the tropical sun.

If that wasn’t enough to celebrate, Trout’s favorite football team the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl. This victory came despite the Eagles losing their star quarterback (and Trout’s hunting buddy), Carson Wentz , to injury. The Eagles faced the favored New England Patriots with an underdog’s prospect of winning but emerged the champions. . . .And Mike was there to see it live.

Mike Trout Birthday ShirtThe Los Angeles Angels released their 2018 promotional schedule recently. The stadium giveaways include a number of Mike Trout themed items.  It appears the team is going to do their best to get every kid in the Los Angeles area the chance to own a Mike Trout jersey.  With seven opportunities to get a youth sized jersey you shouldn’t have any problem helping your kid show off their love for #27.  Other giveaways include a Mike Trout Nutcracker and a special birthday shirt on August 7th when #27 turns 27 years old. After a slew of bobbleheads celebrating Mike’s 2016 MVP award it appears there won’t be any Trout bobbleheads this year.

The Speedbump – Mike Trout’s 2017 Season Review

Mike Trout wrapped up his sixth season once again sitting atop MLB as baseball’s best player and unfortunately once again sitting out of the playoffs. Despite his stellar play the thing that will most be remembered about 2017 was the period of just over 6 weeks in which he did not play.

Trout started the season off with a bang being named the American League Player of the Month for April. It was the best start of his career to date and the fourth time he has received the award. His all-around stats continued to build as he surpassed all of the expected career plateaus during the year. He passed 150 stolen bases, 500 RBI, 500 walks, 1,000 hits, 200 doubles and reached 200 home runs just as the season came to a close. He once again found a way to lead the league in on-base percentage (.442) and was able to couple that with the simultaneous lead in slugging percentage (.629). That naturally made him the league leader in OPS, a remarkable 1.071. He finished the season with a 187 OPS+. At an early stage in the season he had an absurd OPS+ over 200.

All of these feats would seem to make him a shoe-in for his third MVP award, but then May 28th put a serious dent in Trout’s season and the Angel’s playoff chances. Continue reading The Speedbump – Mike Trout’s 2017 Season Review →

Mike Trout’s 26th Birthday Bash

Mike Trout’s only added to his legend by putting on a show for his 26th birthday. The party started before the game when his teammates gave him their traditional birthday shower. It looks like he got hit with some eggs, an Icee, hot sauce and some dry ice.

Then in the game Mike Trout achieved his 1,000 career hit. He’s only the 10th player in American League history to reach the feat before his age 26 season.

If that wasn’t enough he followed with his typical trend of hitting a home run on his birthday. This is the fourth time in six years that Thunder Trout has gone yard to celebrate his big day. He’s the youngest player to achieve the feat. He’s just two dingers behind Alex Rodriguez for most birthday home runs (6).

August 7th means one thing, it’s Mike Trout’s Birthday.  He turns 26 years old today. To top it off he’s on the cusp on hitting his 1,000 career hit in tonight’s game.  It should be quite a party at the Big A.

Mike Trout’s Birthday is on Monday, August 7th. He turns 26 years old.  There are two things to watch for as his birthday approaches.  The first is that he somehow always hits a home run on his birthday.  If you’re going to the game try to sit in the outfield seats, you might catch a birthday home run ball.

The second is that he is only 8 hits away from reaching the 1,000-Career-Hit plateau. He plays 5 games leading up to his birthday.  It’s possible that he reaches that significant mark on his birthday.  He just needs a couple of multi-hit games between now and then.
