A Fifty-Inch Box Jump Is Easy for Me

Mike Trout says 50 inch box jumps are easy for him

In an interview with the LA Times about his off season work out regiment Mike Trout confessed “In fact, since a 50-inch box jump is easy for me, I’ll hold a 25-pound dumbbell in each hand to ramp it up.” That means Trout jumping on a box as high as his elbows is no problem for him. It’s so easy he has to hold 50 pounds of weights to make it difficult. Try jumping while holding 2 gallons of milk (16 lbs) and see how high you can get.

Here is video of Mike making a 60 inch box jump during an off season.

2014 Angels Team MVP

For the third year in a row Mike Trout was selected by his teammates as the team MVP. He was presented with the award along with his roommate, Garret Richards, who won the Pitcher of the Year. Trout responded in the game following the presentation by hitting his 35th home run of the year which is the most by any Angel since Vlad Guerrero hit 39 in 2004. With a week in the season we’ll see if the baseball writers will make Trout the American League MVP.

4th of July Walk-Off Home Run

Mike Trout got the fireworks started for Angels fans everywhere with a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Houston Astros. The Fourth of July blast was Trout’s second walk off home run of his career.

Mike Trout's Favorite place to hitThe Astors pitcher Tony Sipp had Trout in the precarious spot of 2 strikes and no balls but made the fatal mistake of throwing him a low fastball, which is exactly where Mike likes it. Trout’s compact swing exploded like there was nothing to lose. The scouting on this has been very clear, so it’s surprising to see a pitcher throw him anything other than a pitch high in the zone.

Angels Hand Gesture

Here is a shot of Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton after back-to-back hits making their team hand gesture, forming their hands into an “O”. Could it be that they are seeing the ball as if it’s a softball? Or are they we are together?

Well, we now have an answer. Mark Gubicza confirmed during an Angels broadcast on June 19th that the team is declaring their unity by bringing their hands together as a whole. They are saying “We Are Together.”
